In an interview with IRNA, Dr. Seyed Mohsen Mir, Director of National Sport, Olympic, Paralympic Museum highlighted the construction of the busts of medal-winning champions and their location in the Iranian Sports Hall of Fame.
Iran NOC; Tehran: The
Museum Director pointed out: “the philosophy behind such activity is to
appreciate and commend the veterans and champions who endeavored for the
country’s sport within 68 years and raised the Iranian flag many times”
He added: “To this end,
this project was administered in July by unveiling five busts related to Olympic
Champions from 1948 in London and a Paralympian in the Iranian Sports Hall of
Fame. Five busts of champions are to be built every month and unveiling the
busts of the veterans and champions continues to the next year within 10 ceremonies;
therefore, a total of 55 busts will be located in the Hall of Fame.
The Director of the
Museum also said: “The construction of these busts began from the beginning of
Iran's participation in the 1948 Olympic Game, which is based on justice
priority. Of course, out of 55 medalists, 11 champions past away in 68 years,
and one of these veterans’ busts is scheduled to be unveiled every month”.
“The National Olympic
Committee is also set to announce the name of a Paralympic medalist for
constructing its bust” held Dr. Mohsen Mir.
He said: “The next
plan to begin by 2021 is dedicated to the champions and veterans of the Asian
and World games”.
