The National Sports, Olympic, and Paralympic Museum of Iran has achieved a historic milestone by securing official membership in the Marketing Working Group of the Olympic Museums Network (OMN), an entity under the International Olympic Committee (IOC)
During a meeting on Thursday, May 28, 2026, Mohammad Reza Oveisi, the Director of Iran's National Sports Museum, and Maryam Feizasa, the museum's International Affairs Expert, were officially appointed as members of this prestigious working group.While Iranian representatives have attended past OMN meetings, this marks the first time the National Sports Museum of Iran has taken a proactive, official role on the international stage to showcase its museum, development plans, and future initiatives.The meeting brought together representatives from various nations, including Greece, Germany, Switzerland, China, Estonia, South Korea, and Spain, who presented on their respective sports and Olympic museums.The Iranian delegation introduced the National Sports, Olympic, and Paralympic Museum, highlighting Iran’s rich sporting history, the traditional Pahlavani (heroic) culture, and the museum's cultural and educational capacities.Furthermore, Museum Director Mohammad Reza Oveisi outlined upcoming projects focused on physical expansion, digital transformation, cultural marketing, and strategies to engage the younger generation.
The meeting concluded with an agreement that members will share their executive projects and experiences in future sessions, aiming to facilitate knowledge transfer, benchmarking, and joint cooperation among Olympic museums worldwide.
