Olympic Torch
The Olympic torch was used during the
opening ceremony of the 9th edition of the Olympic Games held in
Amsterdam in the year 1928 for the first time. Since then, it is lit in all
editions of this event in Olympia, Greece in a special ceremony and is carried
to the host city by the runners. The winter Olympic Games torch was firstly lit
during the Oslo Olympic Games held in 1952.
This torch is lit during the opening
ceremonies of the summer and winter Olympic Games and is turned off after 15
days until next Olympic Games.
